Key Benefits of Way•Dore Real Times Table Practice
(1.5-minute read)
Individual Booklet
Our Real Times Table Practice set comes with 11 individual booklets. It is purposefully designed this way to allow children to learn one times table at a time at their own pace, without the pressure of having to rush through the whole set of times table 2-12. The individual booklets also serve as an element of surprise with the different colours and designs that come with different booklets.
Colour Themed
Each times table booklet is designed to have its own colour theme. The colour center is the first recipient of information in the brain. As colour is the most powerful stimulus to the brain, it is the first thing that the brain notices. Colour also enhances retention in children’s long term memory by engaging the visual cortex portion of their brains and aids pattern recognition.

The Association for Talent Development states, “In 2002, researchers discovered that subjects performed 5% to 10% better on standardised pattern recognition tests when they were administered in color rather black and white. The effect also boosted memory over time.”
This simply proves how beneficial colours could be when incorporated into learning and teaching! Of course, we hope the children could reap the full benefits of colours by having plentiful of them in our Real Times Table Practice!
Effective Learning Approach
Each of our times table booklet is categorised into three sections - Recitation, Repetition with Variations and Test-Taking.
Each of our times table booklet is categorised into three sections - Recitation, Repetition with Variations and Test-Taking.
Recitation with relaxation leads to fluency and retention. It allows quick recall and retrieval of times table facts in children, even when they are not in order.
Repetition with variations helps children to understand the commutative feature of basic multiplication (4x5 = 5x4). There are various ways to apply and explore times table facts (skip counting, doubling, addition), which leads to mastering commutativity.
Test-taking bridges the gap between the process of retrieval and speed. This eventually leads to automaticity, the ability to perform a task without occupying the mind. Automaticity enables children to retrieve their times table facts with speed and accuracy effortlessly. It also benefits higher math thinking as it relieves cognitive burden thus allowing a greater capacity for more learning.
Our Real Times Table Practice breaks the prejudice of mundane times table practices through an effective and interesting approach. As children develop skills much faster when they are having fun and are engaged, it ensures the love of math and learning at an early age due to early fluency and mastery of times table facts. Our math approach teaches students to have a growth mindset where they realise they can get better at math as they progress. It encourages independence to promote learner autonomy (LA) and self-mastery as a result of interesting individual booklets coupled with exciting designs.

Practice is one of the keys to learning, thus it is important to provide kids necessary practices in an engaging way. Imagine having the kids complete a worksheet with 100 math facts to solve - I’m sure you can imagine the dread on their little faces? Now imagine putting the same 100 math facts in a fully coloured page topped with unique designs and interesting clipart - perhaps you will see a face filled with smiles and anticipation! Not to mention, this is a practice that builds competence and confidence too!
